When the decor beats dinner

Tables set for A Sacandaga Christmas at Sacandaga Bible Conference

On Saturday, we went through our fourth Christmas banquet at Sacandaga Bible Conference — part of an evening that included a free cantata, which attracted more than 300 guests.

It was a beautiful evening of celebrating the season, made even more beautiful because of the outstanding work that was done in decorating. Trees from my parents’ Christmas tree farm, burlap table runners, pine accents, red Christmas balls, and lanterns on every table. This picture doesn’t do it justice. I’m not sure the menu did, either.

Rosemary-crusted roast beef
Applewood-smoked ham with raisin sauce
Curried Kurtz Farm butternut squash
Green beans with bacon and smoked almonds
Savory bread pudding
Italian greens with cucumbers, tomatoes, cranberries and feta
French dinner rolls
Twin chocolate mousse cake
Angel food cake with berries and gingerbread whipped cream.
