Preparation got under way today for Saturday’s spring banquet and concert at Sacandaga Bible Conference. We offloaded asparagus and sugar snap peas and other good stuff, but some of the best ingredients didn’t come from a truck.
Here’s a look at some of what will be in your meal on Saturday:
Five kinds of cheese from the Palatine Valley Dairy, an artisan cheesemaker in Nelliston, which use milk from Amish farmers in the Mohawk Valley. You’ll find pieces of these studded in a salad.
Strawberries, which sadly aren’t local, but they’ll still be special. They’ll be tossed with honey, mint and a few other tricks and served with bread pudding and ginger whipped cream.
Maple sugar from Frasier’s Sugar Shack in Lassellsville, a little hamlet of Ephratah. This will join cumin and coriander as a crust for a slow-cooked pork loin. Think maple-glazed … but with crunch.
